The American Red Cross is a nonprofit organization that helps communities prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies. The mission of the American Red Cross is to alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies. The Western North Carolina Chapter serves a 16-county region.

Who We Are
What We Do
Activities of the American Red Cross include the following:
- Blood Services: Ongoing blood collection, testing, and distribution to ensure a safe and adequate blood supply in time of need.
- Training Services: Provision of training and certification in areas such as First Aid, CPR/AED, Babysitting and Child Care, Swimming and Water Safety, Lifeguarding, and CNA skills.
- Disaster Services: Provision of shelter, meals, clothing, and emotional support to those affected by disaster.
- Home Fire Campaign: Installation of free smoke alarms in homes that don’t have them and education of people about home fire safety.
