Your safety and limiting the spread of COVID-19 is everyone’s main priority. We encourage you to review and adhere to the recommendations on the Buncombe County readiness site on how best to avoid COVID-19 and what to do if you think you might have it.
MANNA Foodbank is looking for volunteers to support shifts in their warehouse. Volunteer projects change daily in the warehouse based on priority and need. After volunteers sort, pack and organize the food, it is then ready for distribution to the community.
Volunteer Roles May Include the Following:
- Sorting food donations
- Packing housewares and hygiene products
- Culling and bagging produce
- Assembling MANNA Packs
Volunteer Requirements:
- "Respond" to this opportunity and receive next step instructions
- Ability to stand for 2-3 hours on hard surfaces
- Ability to lift at least 25lbs
- Bending, stooping, and twisting
- Arrive 5 minutes before scheduled shift (once onboarding is complete)
BEFORE Volunteering with MANNA:
All individuals MUST complete the two-step volunteer orientation prior to volunteering at MANNA FoodBank’s facility. You will be sent the link after you respond to 1) create your volunteer profile and 2) register for a live, virtual volunteer orientation (currently being offered on a bi-weekly basis).
Why is onboarding necessary?
Ensuring volunteers have the training they need and that they understand policies and procedures is important to the safety of the volunteer and gives a deeper understanding of the work of the organization.

- Close toed shoes required
- Hand sanitizer & hand washing station available
- All volunteers are required to wash their hands immediately upon entering the warehouse
- PPE available
- COVID vaccinations are required at this time
- Face coverings / masks are optional
- Bandanna covering nose and mouth
- Cloth covering nose and mouth
- Fabric or disposable face mask
- Asking volunteers to maintain a physical distance of 6 feet or more when possible
- Note: there are times when the volunteer task may require volunteers to engage closer than 6 feet. Please do not sign up if you feel uncomfortable.
