Your safety and limiting the spread of COVID-19 is everyone’s main priority. We encourage you to review and adhere to the recommendations on the Buncombe County readiness site on how best to avoid COVID-19 and what to do if you think you might have it.
Meals on Wheels of Asheville-Buncombe County (MOW) provides hot, nutritious meals to the elderly homebound, thus allowing them to live in their own homes, among familiar surroundings and maintain their dignity while aging. Currently, Volunteer Drivers are needed to deliver to MOW clients. There are approximately 15 shifts/routes that need to be filled ASAP.
RESPOND to this opportunity and our Volunteer Coordinator will follow up with you within 2-3 business days with next steps, route and shift details.
Requirements Include:
- Review of applicants by our Volunteer Coordinator
- Valid drivers license
- No criminal history
- Current vehicle insurance
- Working cell phone
- Between the ages of 18 and 60
- Volunteers expected to volunteer for at least 1 shift ranging between 45 min and 2 hours
Skills Needed:
- Ability to operate a vehicle properly
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of clients
- Dependable
- Professional communication skills
- We are asking volunteers to wear/bring their own face covering
- Bandanna covering nose or mouth
- Cloth covering nose or mouth
- Fabric or disposable face mask
- Asking volunteers to maintain physical distance of 6 feet or more when possible
- Note: there are times when the volunteer task requires volunteers to engage closer than 6 feet. Please do not sign up if you feel uncomfortable.
