Before you even begin thinking about volunteering, ask yourself – Am I well enough to volunteer?

Your safety and limiting the spread of COVID-19 is everyone’s main priority. We encourage you to review and adhere to the recommendations on the Buncombe County readiness site on how best to avoid COVID-19 and what to do if you think you might have it.


Montmorenci has been a part of the Hominy Valley Candler community since March of 1857. We are a part of the Blue Ridge District and the Hominy Valley Missional Network of the Western North Carolina Conference and the greater United Methodist Church. We are looking for 4 volunteers to package food in preparation for our Free Community Drive Through Market!

Date: Wednesday, April 1st, 10:00 - 12:00

Address of Packaging Site for Food Market: 89 Old Candler Town Rd. Candler, NC 28715

Volunteer Roles Include:

  • Packaging food boxes/bags in preparation for following day food market

Requirements:

  • Respond to secure your volunteer slot
  • If you want to volunteer with friends or family, Respond as a Team
  • Must be ages 18-60 to volunteer 
  • Positive customer service skills
  • Ability to remain calm during times of crisis
  • Close toed shoes
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. (occasionally may need to lift up to 35-40lbs.)
  • Bending, twisting, stooping 

Personal Protective Equipment & Safety:  Gloves are provided. Hand-washing sink and hand sanitizer available. We will maintain safe distancing during volunteer shift.

Why does this matter? We have to limit the number of people attending each project. This helps everyone stay safe by following COVID-19 specific safety measures. Please understand that if you show up on-site without registering first, you may be turned away so that the agency can maintain safety procedures.  Safety is our top priority and we want to be sure needs are met while also being safe.
